Latest “Loved Ones Coalition” Report Highlights Extreme Neglect In U.S. Federal Prison
Each week Christine Amador and the Loved Ones Coalition highlights actual instances of neglect, mistreatment and retaliation at Federal Prisons across the country.
The Loved One’s Coalition was started by Christine Amador as a support group for families and loved ones with inmates at FCI Thomson in Illinois where her own loved one was housed. Since reopening as an FCI Low Thomson has been plagued by repeated lockdowns, reports of retaliation, neglect and “Running like a USP”.
After Amador’s own loved one was released and returned to the Dominican Republic, rather than let her advocacy go to the wayside she doubled down and partnered with other like-minded advocates across the country to spearhead efforts to truly call for BOP oversight.
Amador was a strong advocate, supporter and collaborator with Sen. Jon Osoff’s BOP Oversight bill which calls for a more streamlined approach to oversight of the Bureau. Her weekly reports to various stakeholders, Congressmen, Justice Department officials and the BOP have already impacted real change. For instance after reporting 43 different violations at USP McReary within 48 hours Deputy Director Josh Smith made an unexpected site visit without notice, on a Saturday.
The “Loved Ones Coalition” has a very active presence on Facebook here which allows for direct communication and transparency. If you have a loved one in federal prison it’s a must join group.
