Cash App Payments, Legality, & If We Accept Them

You’ve probably heard from other TikTok creators in the prison space that you can go to prison for sending or receiving cash app payments from somebody in prison, whether it’s state or federal prison.

The truth is, there’s no actual law on the books in regards to sending or receiving Cash App payments from an inmate.

However, the BOP has made it a 100 series shot to use Cash App or any similar payment platform.

For that reason, it’s highly recommended when you’re in federal prison to never discuss Cash App on the wall phone, as it’s a recorded and usually actively listened-to line.

So, why don’t we accept Cash App as payment for services? Why haven’t we since January of 2025?

Well, here’s the story. We had an inmate from Lompoc pay for us to co-write his motion. Shortly after paying, he was busted with a cell phone by SIS and taken to the SHU.

When SIS ran a forensic search of activity on that phone, they sound several Cash App transactions and found that the inmate was importing K2 from a loved one on the outside. He ended up getting charged for distributing that K2 in the federal prison system.

Then, the federal government attempted to indict people that he sent large Cash App payments to for the K2.

At that point, we were investigated and cleared of any wrongdoing. But, for that reason, we no longer accept Cash App payments for services rendered.

Here’s where we’d like your help. If you have paid our services through Cash App since January 1st, 2025, please screenshot that payment and recipient and send it to us via Instagram DMs, Tiktok DMs, or email Kyle@federalprisontips.com.

We understand mistakes happen, and we want to make sure work is being done if you believe you paid for our services via Cash App since that date, and work with you to make sure payment is received and the lines of communication are established.

But, to be clear, we are not accepting Cash App payments at this time.

So, if you’re an inmate, you should probably avoid moving large amounts of Cash App money to avoid finding yourself with a longer sentence, time in the SHU, and lost good time.
