There Is Something You Can Do About It
We hear it all the time: “The BOP won’t tell me anything about my loved one in federal prison.”
If you’re new to federal prison, or if you have somebody going to federal prison, make sure you fill out one of these release of information consent forms. This way, the BOP can talk to you about your loved one’s situation. Legally, they don’t have to if you don’t have one of these forms on file. It would simply be a courtesy.
Of course, it’s still the BOP. Even with the form on file, it’s not going to be easy, but it is the first step.
