Back in 2014, the Miami Herald published a story highlighting how Correctional Officer Cornelius Thompson was fired from the Department of Corrections in Florida for contributing to the death of an inmate after forcing him into a scalding hot shower.

This is the same Cornelius Thompson who was escorted off the compounds at FCC Coleman last week. Federal Prison Tips had the exclusive footage last week, which was featured on our TikTok.

We’ve reached out for comment from the BOP to ask how they could have possibly missed this piece of their prospective employee’s history when hiring. The BOP has not responded.

Last week, Officer Thompson was fired and arrested by the FBI after sexually abusing an inmate and accepting bribes from a public official. He faces up to 30 years in prison and a forfeiture order of $24,550.

The story is ongoing. We’ll be right here publishing updates as things progress.
