Where To Best Report Prison Issues
We get hundreds of emails, DMs, voicemails, and messages about ongoing issues happening to loved ones in the federal prison system.
I was asked to use my platform to convey to our community that there’s places to go when you have complaints and concerns about the safety and security of your incarcerated loved ones, and other issues at their institution.
The Justice Department wants us to report these things to the Office of the Inspector General – specifically set up for complaints about the federal prison system or the Bureau of Prisons.
The problem here is that in recent days and weeks, many submissions are met with an error message that reads “Delivery Has Failed To These Recipients,” listing the OIG office email.
So, if you have something to report, give this option a try, and also report your issue to the Loved Ones Coalition and/or the First Network.
Both Christine Amador and Heather Pirtle at the Loved Ones Coalition and the First Network, respectively, are there to help inmates reach out to Congress, the Office of the Inspector General, and to the Justice Department.
