The Unannounced Inspections Begin
Here at Federal Prison Tips have spoken with several inmates housed at the Federal Prison Camp in Montgomery, as well as their loved ones, and several staff members on the condition of anonymity.
We can confirm that the Southeast Region inspected the Federal Prison Camp in Montgomery on Tuesday unannounced. During that visit, the acting Southeast Regional Director and his staff interviewed inmates without prison administration oversight.
Several of those inmates reported to regional staff that they had been underfed, hadn’t had full commissary access in nearly five months, and had been deprived of television and ways to communicate with their family.
By Thursday, every unit at FPC Montgomery had gone to shop at the commissary, and were not restricted in the kinds of items they could buy. They also instituted a cleanliness contest that will allow inmates and each housing unit to compete for a spending limit increase on their monthly commissary.
Further, they now have their TVs back, as well as a program that allows the best kept unit to stay up late watching TV until after midnight count.
Things are slowly being returned to how they were at FPC Montgomery in 2018.
It’s also been reported that Warden Washington has not been on the compound since Region left.
This is all very positive news for change in the way the BOP operates. Rogue, lazy, and malicious prison staff members are being held accountable. Let’s hope these successes continue, and this event drives other prisons to clean up their act.
