When inmates arrive at a Federal Bureau of Prisons facility they are expected to maintain complete respect for staff at all times. This of course makes sense because, after all we are federal inmates and part of the rehabilitation process is to learn to respect authority.

The Masked Law Student is a content creator in the corrections genre on both Youtube and Tiktok, is also a former BOP correctional officer. He’s still employed today in the BOP, but on the rehabalitative side. He opines that respect between staff and inmates should be a two way street. And it should.

In the video above (the audio is from the Masked Law Student, we mixed it with BOP B-roll), he suggests that a correctional officer apologizing when he has done wrong is not a sign of weakness. He says that on occasions he has apologized to inmates and it hasn’t made him less of a man, less of a correctional officer and even promotes a safer yard.

Unfortunately, as he alludes to in the video, this isn’t the norm for correctional officers in the BOP.

Our clients regularly see 18-24 months less in prison, even after they are sentenced. Find out how by filling out this form, or emailing info@federalprisontips.com
